Cleaning sterilizers

Dusting off the old sterilizer just to be prepared, but need to clean it (obviously). I can't remember what it is I used for descaling it though - got the little packets with it, but then bought crystals from the chemist to descale it, or could have been a liquid?

Anyone any ideas?

Thanks

Could use vinegar? Does the same job...just wash it out thoroughly afterwards. Put in some vinegar, switch it on and off as it boils. Leave for half an hour or so and it should be sparkly.

You can get the citric acid sachets from boots.
