Should I be worried?

My ds is 4 weeks old, and has got into a pattern at night of feeding at 11pm, 2am and 5.30am. However, today I woke up at 5.30 and realised he hadnt woke to be fed at 2. Dh was pleased thinking this means he has dropped the 2am feed, but I think this is probably too early, and am worried something is wrong. He did feed at 5.30 and then again at 8 but didn't seem to have a lot. He is also a bit snuffly and I am so worried he might be getting ill. I was also worried about how missing the 2am feed would affect my supply so I expressed from each side after the feed at 5.30. Don't know now though if this was the right thing to do. Any advice? 6.5 hours is the longest he has ever slept and I am now panicing!

I don't think you need to worry - most babies take a few months to settle into a really predictable pattern, and they won't starve themselves! You'll probably find that the 2 am feed returns tonighf. If not remember that plenty of people boast that their babies slept through from 6 weeks, so it can't be that unusual.

I must admit that DS sleep's more when he is coming down with something. The opersit can also be trun as DD slept terrably when ill (and in general). I wouldn't be supprised if it's just a one off at this age though.

I don't think you need to worry. Like beanlet said, he will probably wake again tonight at 2. I also don't think you need to worry about supply, so long as you carry on feeding on demand, as he will most likely make up for it by feeding a bit more during the day.

Hope you're enjoying the feeling of having had a decent (ish) amount of sleep!!

If he does continue sleeping through, then so long as his nappies are wet enough and weight gain is good then you have nothing to worry about. (PS Don't weigh too often! Once a month is fine if there are no other health concerns)

I think ds was sleeping 6 hours at 4 weeks actually, from about 9pm-3am - he even did 9-5 a few times before 8 weeks. He was feeding every 2-3 hours the rest of the time though.

We're only just managing 11-7 again now at 6 months though with several periods of hourly night waking in the meantime, so I'd enjoy it while it lasts!
