9mo sleep regression and breastfeeding :(

We are in the thick of the 9m regression :( and baby has also been ill with a virus. After a few nights of feeding every 2 hours or so I now have very sore nipples and huge boobs again. I am back at work and can't sustain this, any suggestions? I don't really want to stop bfing yet...

Anybody? The sore nips are the main issue atm. I can hardly stand to latch her on and she is quite a gentle feeder.

Will she latch on if you use nipple sheilds for a few days? BF so established that it shouldnt make a difference to your supply. Just might give you time to heal. Also at 9 mths then she really shouldnt be feeding every 2 hours! I know you said she has been poorly but sounds like if nipples have been made sore then not really sucking properly for food, just for comfort? Once she is better then maybe there is someone that could help you in the nights to settle her without resorting to the boob? Partner/ mother/ amazing friend? Use cold packs on your boobs to help with engorgement after feeds and hot packs before feeds to help milk drain.

I hope you get some better sleep soon xx

Thank you :)

Suspected thrush after having a google and looking in baby's mouth, so went to NHS walk in centre yesterday and got prescription for topical antifungal for me and nystatin for her. Already seem to be improving so fingers crossed...
