Hi there
could do with advice re expressing? I have had mastitis in my right boob five times now - finally i think its cleared up but not sure what to do re expressing. Lots of people said to express that side should my DS 3mths miss a feed but now he has dropped one nighttime feed which means in the morning that side is massive and sore - if i keep expressing am i making the situation worse - shouldnt i just leave it for my body to adjust to the new schedule? and if so how long will it take

many thanks

I think that if you express just enough to get comfortable you should be OK and it should only take a few days to a week.

As for not expressing, only you know if your body will be likely to let this lead to mastitis or not, so you're in the best place to make that decision.

ok thanks PenguinArmy -so if i express a little to make comfortable after missed feed that should be ok - but obviously if i feel the mastitis coming on i need to try and get rid of it by expressing! many thanks

If you express you can gradually reduce the quaantity instead of the sudden drop from dropping a whole feed.

Any idea why you keep having issues in one side?
