Not finishing feeds and squirming... Help!!

Hi, I have a 4 month old BF baby. The last couple of weeks he's been feeding for much shorter periods of time at the boob, but same no of feeds per day.

He also squirms, goes red in the face and makes straining noises when he pulls away, but nothing comes out. He burps fine though.

Am trying gripe water which doesn't seem to help or change things so I'm unsure whether it's wind.

Anyone else come across this? Thanks

Does he need a poo? My DS does this when feeding sometimes when he needs to go, its in one end and out the other with him... I sound like I'm feeding a whoopy cushion most of the time! Grin

His feeds are also short but always have been. They do get more efficent so as long as he is gaining normally, happy, wet nappies etc I'd think it was ok.

He poops quite regularly (once a day, sometimes twice), so don't think he's constipated...

if he's not feeding any more regularly and continues to gain weight well i'd say the quicker feeds are just down to him being more efficient or cutting down on the comfort feeding they tend to do at the end to many interesting things to do instead!

The squirming could just be him realising he doesn't want any more and if he isn't unsettled once he's off i wouldn't worry about it. If something was wrong and he was in pain it would likely carry on for a while after the feed had stopped.

Hiya
My DD does this regularly but usually after a she's demanded more milk and my body's responded! It can be very frustraiting but it's all coming out much quicker and there's more to have. She did it too me today where she didn't want much just a quick drink!
Don't worry too much it should settle down hopefully.

Oh - so do you think it's coming out too quickly then - or quicker at least? Maybe it's to stop him from choking?
