cutting down on bf - is this normal?

my ds seems to have developed a much bigger appetite for solids in the last few weeks so he's bfing a lot less, having been a real milk monster before. He's nearly one. For the last week or so, I've felt really weepy and washed out - the slightest thing upsets me and it's a real effort to get out of the house.

Are the two things connected? I can't think of a "proper" reason for feeling so upset, so I guess it might be hormonal. Anyone else had this when they cut down on bfing?

No, I've just cut back on breast feeding in the last 2 weeks, going from 6 feeds a day down to 2, and it hasn't made me feel weepy or upset.

Could there be some other reason for it in your case? Or maybe it's psychological, knowing that bfing is coming to an end? How do you feel about stopping?

CarolinaFullMoon · 13/10/2005 19:36

well, I haven't actually stopped yet. I think I'm fine about it tbh, it's a bit of a PITA now that he's not only wriggly but also strong with it - he keeps kicking me in the armpit!

OTOH I do have phases of feeling like this from time to time for no obvious reason - maybe it's just more of that.

Have your periods returned yet - maybe pmt type mood swings?

CarolinaFullMoon · 13/10/2005 20:50

no, not yet - hopefully they will now. Time to start thinking about ttc no.2...
