have I read somewhere that it's ok to stop boiling water for bottles/drinks after the age of 6 months? I have a 7 month old and was wondering if it's ok to give him filtered water straight from the jug instead of boiling it.

Oh yes it's fine. Ds2 was crawling at 5.5 months and putting toys, shoes, pushchair wheels, etc in his mouth. I never boiled any water for him to drink or bath or anything. He's 2.5 now and seems fine

Definitely by six months IMO. By that age they like to lick shoes and the wheels of the pram! I don't think a bit of tap will do any harm. Didn't harm my two, certainly.
