ff baby off the bottle

My DS now 22 weeks was EBF for 19 weeks. At 19 weeks (for various reasons) I introduced a bottle for one feed, this went so well that I introduced a 2nd bottle and my plan was to have weaned him off the breast by 6 months. He'd taken the bottle and everything was going swimmingly. Then he came down with a bad bug on Friday. Was sick all Friday and Saturday. I BF him as had him in bed with me, and he fed little and often from me. He seems a lot better now, but despite trying a bottle with him since Saturday, he has refused it. When he tastes the formula is seems to nearly make him gag, and he has no interest in having the bottle near his mouth.

This is a problem as my milk supply is low as the 2 feeds that I changed to formula were the 2 biggest feeds. And also forumla was really working well for us (he started gaining weight, being more settled, settling and sleeping better at night and was more content during the day).

Anyone any ideas on how to introduce the bottle back? Should I leave it a few days till he's fully over the bug then try again? or try at ever feed to persevere?

He also had been on baby porridge for the last couple of weeks which he loved until he got sick and now he's not really interested.

Hi, poor thing, glad he is a bit better. Do you have a breast pump? Pumping will increase your supply again, and you could also try breast milk in the bottle, see if that helps. If he will tolerate that you could try gradually adding formula milk to the breast milk until you can give him all formula. He may not be 100% yet, so is it a problem to feed him often, to make sure he is getting enough and just keep trying with the bottle. Good luck.
