9 weeks won't feed, nursing pads?

My 9 week old, normally a fantastic feeder, has just started screaming as soon as she gets near my nipple. I use nipple shields but she has been fine with these so I don't think it's that (I offered her food without one as well). She has the full arched back and red face (very unusual for her, she's a sunny baby).

The only thing I can think of is that I have changed from washable to disposable nursing pads. Could she dislike the smell/taste? I hope not since I am enjoying not being clad in yogurt 24/7.

This sounds like reflux to me. Might be worth asking your GP or HV.

Could she have reflux without ever having done anything like this before? I know that can be a nightmare, I hope that's not it...

I have taken to conning her with a soother then quickly changing to me. Once she is latched and there is milk she seems to calm down.

I would take her to the GP. Get the GP to check her ears in case she has an infection.

That crossed my mind too. I wondered because she has been fractious and grumpy generally. Or a cold. She is feeding a little more now but still not happy. DH tried a bottle of EBM and she screamed the house down. So, at least it's not the boobs she objects to!
