Nipple shields saved me!

I just wanted to put it out there in the big wide world that nipple shields can be an absolute life saver!
I had really sore nipples and had got to the point where i was in tears every time i fed my DD. Nipple shields stopped me from giving up!
I am nervous now about stopping to use them. How long have people used them for without them affecting your supply?

Another fan here- I would have given up without them but 6 weeks in we're still going and DD is gaining weight really well. I find the boots one the best as it has thinner silicone than the medela one. Interestingly the one I was given to try in hospital was awful- really unnatural shape and very stiff material that DD could not suck at all.

My midwife was the one who told me to retry as one nipple was toe curlingly painful and the other inverted. She said something along the lines of the research now suggests they don't affect supply and UNICEF (or was it WHO) recommends their use in certain scenarios.

I'd def recommend anyone who is thinking of giving up or miserable to give them a go first!

Is there a brand of nipple shield you'd recommend?
