Descaling a sterliser

Sorry if this has been answered elsewhere but I haven't got time to search. Forgive me if this is a silly question but can you use regular descaler (for kettles etc) for a bottle sterliser? Last time I needed it (which was a few years ago), I got sachets from mothercare (specifically for sterlisers but not sure if this was just a marketing con!) Thanks in advance.

I descale mine with lemon juice (the sachets are ascorbic acid which is found in lemon juice) and have never had any problems.

I put in the same amount of juice as I would water to run a cycle, let it run through, rinse it out thoroughly and rerun just with water.

Thanks Milly - tried it last night and it worked a treat!

I bought the sachets of steriliser descaler from boots - but lemon would probably work just as well.
