BF DD sick after each feed...

DD is 10 days old and the last few days she is sick after every feed.
She is ebf and is gaining weight. Should I be feeding her more to compensate or does this mean se is getting too much?
She does not seem to be in any discomfort? Neither of my other dcs were ever sick after feeding so am not sure what to do.

How much is she throwing up? I know it can be hard to judge. But a few tablespoons can look like a lot, but probably doesn't matter.

Sounds like possetting - lots of babies do it, some more than others.

No need to feed her any more than she indicates she wants (some babies do chuck back more than they intended and need more to replace it :) ).

Check with midwife or hv but with a thriving baby who's in no discomfort and is gaining weight, they'll almost certainly say 'no problem' :)

My daughter used to posset after every feed. If your daughter is gaining weight, not projectile vomiting and providing plenty of wet nappies I don't think you need to worry too much. You might find that keeping her upright for a while after each feed helps.

Thanks for the speedy response and reassurance. I will mention it to the HV next time I see her and will invest in some more muslin cloths ! Smile

My DD did this when she was tiny, she grew out of it after a few weeks. I agree that if she doesn't seem to be in any discomfort and she's gaining weight then it's probably nothing to worry about.
