Dropping feeds in BF baby

At the moment I have no plans to BF past 6 months. DS is 11 weeks old so I may change my mind yet!

However I would like to do maybe a morning feed and bedtime feed only at that point and onwards. How will that work out? Will I be able to make enough milk or will is just dry up if not feeding regularly enough? I understand I would have to cut down gradually but wondered if that would work.

Thanks

Are you planning to mix-feed before 6 months then?

So you want to feed morning and night only after 6 months?

From previous threads on this subject it seems there's a mix between people who do manage to maintain a supply on 2 or 3 feeds a day and people who couldn't. The other thing to consider is that if your baby is ahaving several bottles in the day, they might come to prefer them and not be bothered with breastfeeds anymore.

No. Sorry if I sound ignorant but I haven't thought it through properly yet! I was going to EBF to 6 months and then drop down to just a morning and bedtime feed per day.

Thank you, I hadn't thought that the baby might then come to prefer bottles. Maybe nearer the time I'll have a clearer idea of what to do. I do love feeding but I feel like at 6 months I will have given him a great start and it would be nice to have my body back a bit.
