should not be reassured that her one month old, premature baby 'only woke twice in the night' for feeds and is a 'good baby'? Grin

Seriously though, surely a premature baby needs to feed more often than that? Or am I just being all bitter and twisted about 6 wk DS2 feeding every 2 hours like a REAL newborn?

Unless, of course, the writers of The Archers are setting up some sort of Helen-milk-related-crisis... Not really sending out the right messgae though, is it?

Yes yes, I know. Get a life, etc. Wink

Ah glad it's not just me whose been sad enough in finding fault with this story line. Smile

Leaving aside Jill's comment that she left the garlic out of the pasta sauce 'for Henry' Confused, where is the cluster feeding, the tears (from baby and mother), the sore boobs, the total overwhelming feelings of exhaustion and chaos that come from having a newborn in the house?

flipper99 · 30/01/2011 13:53

I agree, she seems to just be drifting around the village with Henry in a carrier being perfect Angry

Meanwhile I was listening to the omnibus while still in bed, covered in milk, attempting to feed my 4 week old DS who just can't get the hang of it despite being overdue and nearly 9lb :)

cleanandclothed · 30/01/2011 13:59

It was the 'and went straight back to sleep' that got me. I recall night after night when a one hour feed was followed by a 40 mins trying to get DS to sleep session, only for the whole thing to start again 40 mins after that.

ReshapeWhileDamp · 30/01/2011 21:17

Noooo! I must have missed the garlic comment! Arghh!

Flipper99 - yeah, me too. Grin

Where indeed is the exhaustion, the leaky boobs, the lack of confidence at 3am (surely something Hellin will be prone to?), the flashing of the postman when she opens the front door?

Grin

YANBU! Helen is particularly deeply annoying at the moment and Henry nothing like a real baby what with his good sleep and total lack of crying (in the bits I've heard anyway).

I think a bad night is on the way though, Brian was burbling about hoping Henry had a good first night under their roof so fingers crossed Henry is going to pull an all-nighter. Also pasta comment clearly a sign that Helen is going to pass on her food issues, no garlic ffs!

seeker · 31/01/2011 04:48

And other Archer saddos remember premature Abbie feeding like a dream, recovering practically instantly from severe jaundice and sailing through babyhood with the occasional charming coo and gurgle to remind us that they was actually a bay int he show?

Presumably Helen is going to collapse intoa gibbering heap whiel Tony and Pat are in Saltzberg?

bigkidsmademe · 31/01/2011 08:29

oh GOD I nearly wrote a hormonal, tear-stained missive to the bbc about that bloody episode.

'He's yawned, Helen, time for his moses basket'

'Oh look he's asleep'

WHAT THE HELL?

ReshapeWhileDamp · 31/01/2011 14:28

Grin bigkids. I'd forgotten that bit!

Yes the garlic comment was annoying...If ds wouldn't take milk "tainted" by garlic he would have gone very hungry indeed.
