Urgent help with expressing

DD is 2 days old and we are having problems feeding her. Midwife has said to formula feed and express breast milk at same time. Only problem is that I can't get anything out using the breastpump. There is colostrum there when I squeeze my nipple but nothing is happening with the pump. It's a Tommee Tippee Electric. What am I doing wrong?

Just hang in there. You can get through this. I was in tears so much the first couple of weeks and was really scared we wouldn't be able to bf, but here I am Mnetting with a happy healthy 7wo on my boob!

good luck with everything.

I was prepared for a non feeding baby for the first few days.

I wasn't prepared for the having to fight the baby to get latched i.e. hold arms out of the way to get her there.

We finally had luck getting her latched and then when my milk came in, it all went wrong again. Took us another day to work out I needed to hand express some first (used a warm flannel) as they were so rock hard LO couldn't get on. DH would walk around with her for 5-10mins and do nappy changing before feed whilst waiting

She has been latching on and drinking really well today. Let's hope this continues. Again, thank you all so much for your support - it really is appreciated
