Is this mastitis??

DS2 is 13 weeks and feeding is fine. I can get very full at night as he doesn't wake til 2,3 or sometimes 4am, and so I need to express a bit sometimes in the night so he can latch on. Anyway, since yesterday morning, the far side of my left breast has been sore and tender. I thought it was related to the exercise I had started, until I realized it's just on the one side. But that sort of workout pain. I just had a look now and there seem to be red veiny lines in that area, that weren't there before (they are breastfeeding veiny at the moment iykwim, but these are not red). But I can't feel any lumps. Any ideas? I really don't want to get antibiotics as I am susceptible to thrush when feeding and really don't want that at this stage. Thanks in advance!

Sounds like it could be mastitis. Do you have any other symptoms? Feeling ill at all or a temperature? When I had mastitis it started in a similar way to what you have described and kicked off very quickly, so if you are worried I would get to your GP ASAP. Otherwise, keep draining that breast as best you can, offering it first at every feed and/or expressing if it feels full / engorged.

Thanks. I do feel a bit coldy today. And tired. Did the GP just give you antibiotics straight away or did they suggest anything else first?

Sounds like it :(
Id go to docs to get it checked as if its left it can mAke you rather Poorly. I usual get it on a friday evening and end up popping to out of hours for antibiótics.
Check your temp and take paracetamol if needed
