Is it possible to over breast feed?

Is it possible that I am overfeeding our daughter (12 weeks old). She has quite a distended belly after feeding and has recently started bringing up some milk after most feeds. Her weight gain has followed the 25th centile line pretty closely.

I tend to feed until she stops and then offer again in case she has not had sufficient. Is this correct or should I not offer again, regardless of how long she has been attached (usually somewhere between 10 and 40 minutes)

At that age, I would say no, don't worry! :)

Sounds like you are doing exactly the right thing, kimberlina. Everything you mention sounds normal. Also, whilst it is possible to over-feed with a bottle, it is not possible to over-breastfeed - there are different mechanics involved in the two feeding methods.

No, is the short answer!
