Tandem feeding blogs or info

Hi

I've just found out I'm pregnant with no 2 GrinGrinGrin and am still bf dd (18 months). She still feeds loads day and night so I can't see her giving up any time soon, and I'm happy to go with it.

Anyway, as it seems I will be tandem feeding at least for a while - or possibly for a long time - I wondered if anyone could direct me to sources of information. I don't know anyone breastfeeding a toddler, let alone tandem feeding, and that can be a bit lonely, so would like to share experiences.

loopy have you got a LLL near to you. I'm sure you'll find other Mums there feeding a toddler and maybe even tandem feeding too.

There is plenty of info here and on Kellymom too.

Congratulations Smile

There's a lot on her including a long running support thread - do a search (top right) and you'll find it. I tandem fed for a year. Hard work but v worthwhile.

Congratulations.

Here's a list of threads to look at

Ah, thank you everyone - plenty of reading to be getting on with!

I would love to go to a LLL meeting, Jilted, but unfortunately the only one I can find anywhere nearby (I'm in Bedfordshire - tends to be a bit dead as regards everything!) is when I am at work.

Thanks for taking the time to reply Smile

Thats a shame Loopy, are there any other Bfing Support groups or do you local NCT run a group? NCT groups tend to welcome everyone so there is usually a good mix of ffers, mix feeders and bfers.

EauRouge · 22/01/2011 13:02

loopyloo82, many congrats! I am also BF and expecting. It's a shame the LLL group is when you are working :( there's one I go to in St Neots that's very good, it's on Friday mornings- info here. Is that too far to go? There are sometimes extra meetings on as well.

There's also one in Cambridge but that might be a bit of a trek.

If you ever want to meet up for tandem coffee then PM me, my mum lives in Beds so I'm often around there.

Oh and you need to buy this book. Grin

loopylou - I tandem feed and go to lll meetings in bedfordshire. What days do you work, as there are a few new meetings locally either just started or in the pipeline?

And congratulations on your pregnancy :).

CantSleepWontSleep · 22/01/2011 14:11

Oh and if you do get to a meeting in beds then you can borrow a copy of that book rather than buying one, esp if I get round to returning the one i have Blush.

loopyloo82 · 22/01/2011 19:16

Oh, thanks everyone, you're so kind. And I have made progress!

EauRouge, thanks for letting me know about the St Neots group- I was a bit absent-minded and only checked Bedfordshire - in fact, I'm no further from St Neots than from Bedford. I have just e-mailed the group leader, as Friday is perfect for me, so hope to be coming along to the next meeting! Maybe I will meet you there. Congratulations to you too.

Can'tSleep, I work Mon-Thurs mornings and Mon afternoon. If there are any meetings in Beds that are not then, I'd love to come along, and thanks for the kind offer of a book borrow - I hope I will get to meet you at a meeting at some point.

Jilted, thanks for replying again. I do attend NCT meetings, but it just so happens that none of the members I've met from our branch are breastfeeding anywhere beyond a year. Everyone is always very supportive, but I'd like to meet some people who are in the same boat as me... and it looks like I might be able to now!

I am very pleased! Thank you all so much for your replies!

That's great news! The group leader is lovely and a really good laugh. I won't be at the February meeting because it's on my due date Grin well, unless the baby is born a week early and then I might brave it. Maybe see you at the March one though?

CantSleepWontSleep · 22/01/2011 21:34

Oh that's great that you can make it to the St Neots one :). I actually posted my post before I'd read EauRouge's properly, but St Neots was one of the groups that I was thinking of.

There's also one in Letchworth which is moving to Friday mornings from this month, but I'm guessing that that might be a bit further for you.
And one of the recently qualified leaders is in the process of setting up a group in north bucks (I think around Milton Keynes), but I don't know the day for that yet.

There's also a fb page for lll beds which you can join if you want (I think you have to be a member to view the content, but should be able to find the page and ask to join ok, but I've just discovered that the barstewards at fb have changed me to a new profile and I don't know how to find my groups at the moment to check!).

loopyloo82 · 25/01/2011 19:33

Sorry for the belated thanks - don't get on here very often.

EauRouge, good luck with the new baby - hopefully I will meet it in March!
And Can't sleep, Letchworth isn't very far, so I might check that out.

Thanks for all your help
