I am ebf my 9wk old dd and gave read that you are not supposed to take anti histamine when bf so....

Help!! Please... I am going crazy. Very odd, about 10 days ago I noticed that the inside of my knees and just above and below were a little itchy, and red and my skin was bumpy almost like having goosebumps. The redness and most itchiness then disappeared leaving horrible bumpy skin. Then a few days later I noticed the same horrible bumpiness and slight itching but no redness on my side of my torso.

Now suddenly tonight everything itches sooo much including my face and hair and back... I don't know if this is related to previous itchy and weird skin or something different. Tried to work out what I could be having a reaction to but not eating anything different or using any different creams...

Anyone have any ideas? Please help!

I had a weird itchy thing when my Dad was very ill. Went to see the same family doc who was treating my Dad and so knew the situation. He gently rubbed his knuckles over my back and I came out like I had been lashed with a cat and nine tails.

Turned out to be stress. Went away a few days after my Dad passed away.

Hope you get to the bottom of it!

I know its probably not much help but every time I've had really intense unexplained itching I've discovered I was pg Grin.

On a more useful note - try putting porridge oats in the toe of a pair of tights and hanging it under the hot tap when running a bath - I use this with my ds2 when his exzemas(sp?) driving him mad and it really seems to sooth the itch. hth x

I'd see a doctor asap tbh.

I have urticaria that itches like this and find tea tree moisturising lotion helps and there's an actual itch cream called Eurax I think that's supposed to be really good!

Have a look at PUPPS - usually this happens antenatally but can happen postnatally too.

I had this too - waited a week to see the doc, when it was really unbearable. She gave me anti histamines anyway as the amount reaching breastmilk is so teeny - started taking them on a Friday & had relief by Monday. Shouldnt have waited a week really.....

Feel better x

Thanks - better make a dr's app then! And better not be pregnant although chance are very very tiny! One weeny dd is enough just now!
