16 week old suddenly feeding all the time

DD(16w) was a bit poorly last week and started to feed a lot especially overnight(4-5 times from previously 2 times a night) and also feeds much longer at each feed. This has continued until now.
Previously if she had a growth spurt she would turn into a milk monster for 2 days and then settle down again so any ideas what is going on? Do they just step it up a gear(or several) at around 16 weeks?
I'm not overly bothered by it, have resigned myself to do nothing else but nurse for as long as it takes, just wondered if anyone else has had a similar experience.

I believe this is called the 4 month growth spurt/sleep regression.

It's a nightmare, it's tiring, it can make you lose your mind.

But it's all normal. and can last from a week to a couple of months.

My ds2 is 17weeks and going through it at the moment too. Every 1 1/2 hours day and night. I got 8hrs sleep in 4 days last week. Zzzzzzz

He's getting slightly better through the night. Every 2 1/2 hrs now but still pretty much constant during the day.

Yep, sounds familiar. My baby is now 5 months and only just starting to sleep better.

Thank you. Good to know its normal. Just when I thought I had worked out a 2 hour window where I could whizz round the shops.I'm sure they will thank us for it when they are 15! Wink
