Infant Gaviscon question

JudysDreamHorse · 12/01/2011 18:33

This may be a stupid question but I've been prescribed some Infant Gaviscon as I think my 15 week old BF DS has silent reflux.

He's over 10lbs so I have to give him 2 doses. Should each dose be made up to 15mls (i.e. give him 30mls total) or should the two doses be made up to 15mls? 30 mls seems like quite a lot to give him after a feed - not sure if he'll take it. Should I start on one dose?

Any tips for the best way to give it? Thanks

Judy, do you mind me asking, how did you convince your GP your DS has silent reflux? My GP says DS doesn't have reflux because he doesn't vomit, but I'm sure he does.

Sorry I cant' answer your question though.

Thanks!

Fingon, that's ok. I think I have a nice doctor to be honest. I didn't say silent reflux as I had read some doctors were sceptical. I just told her I thought DS had some sort of reflux as I could hear him being sick and swallowing a lot and seemed in discomfort. I said I wasn't sure (I'm not) but it was getting worse so thought I should see about it. He also has a dry cough which I've read is a symptom. She suggested the Infant Gaviscon pretty quickly and has said to try it a couple of times a day to see if it makes a difference. I'm hoping it does - he wakes himself up with it and starts screaming. Hope you manage to get taken seriously.

Thanks Judy, I'll try it like that.
