Treating baby for thrush

Any tips for applying the micanozole gel to the inside of baby's mouth?

My DS (5 weeks) just sucks my finger like crazy so I finding it hard to apply it 'until all mucosal surfaces have been coated'. This is further confounded by my not really knowing what counts as a mucosal surface. And 'coating' is somewhat difficult when he sucks it all off...

so, any tips?

Maybe a stupid answer (sorry if it is) but can you do it while he is asleep?

My twins had the drops - they hated the taste of them! cried every time we gave them.

If you smear some on your nipple before a feed, then when your ds latches on he'll get it round his mouth. Then after the feed try smearing a little on his tongue, inside of cheeks and round his lips. That's what I did anyway.

I used a cotton bud covered well with the gel, used a couple of buds if necessary, seemed to work ok.
