Nearly 5 mo old not wanting to feed properly!

Hi all,

DD is EBF and nearly 5 mo old, but she is becoming increasingly hard work! The only feeds she will have properly are her nightime ones, during the day she will only feed for a few minutes before pulling off, looking around, arching her back, grizzling etc etc. Sometimes she will then want feeding again as sdhe didn't have much, others she will only feed a few times a day.

Is this just a phase or am I doing something wrong? She was 7lbs at birth and is around 18lbs now, so is a healthy little thing, but I am loathe to wean for another month or so.

Mine is the same - plus pinching, biting, scratching etc during day feeds! Seems quite common at this age. Mine was 8lb6 at birth and way less than 18lb now though, so sounds like you're doing well.

Snap Grin

An age thing, I think

Mine is teething also I noticed today. So using my nipples as teethers Hmm

Very, very normal age to start getting distracted by the rest of the world.

The distractible baby

Pain in the backside for trying to feed discreetly in public, but it does usually pass (only to come back with a vengeance at 8 months, in my experience!)

mine is only 14 weeks and already like this (i remember it well from dd1 too) I have just come back from having coffee with some other mums during which i had to go and feed standing up in the disabled loo Confused just to get some food in her as she was so distracted by the other two babies who were there but was clearly hungry as she was wailing too! Am hoping its a phase as i am also not ready to give up!
