Hi,

So I finally weaned Dd from breast to bottle. I should have just gone straight to the cup but at seven months she just didn't get it. Now she will take water from a top mug. She is obssessed with having it at meals times and will rarely eat anything unless she has it in her hand as a toy or for its function. That is another problem though. Anyway she will not take milk from a cup. I tried with her morning feed as she is most thirsty for milk then. She takes a few sips and then looks at me confused and pushes it away. I use a different top mug(tommee tippee) for milk then water as I thought this may help. HOw can I make the transition easier. Any advice??(ps DD is 10 months)Am also worried as I think most babies are on cups at this age.

I think the first thing is not to worry, all children do things in their own time.My ds sometimes stil like a drink out of his bottle and he is 2!
He does use a cup but sometimes for comfort he likes it.I see no reason to stop him, he is at home and not hurting anyone.
As long as you are introducing her to the cup and she is drinking from it i doubt there will be any future problems. It may just be first thing of the morning is when she still wants that bit of comfort. Why not try the cup as the day progresses.
If it means for a while she is using both then at least it is a stop in the right direction. :)

THank you for the reassuarance :) I think you may be right that I could have chosen the wrong time of day to introduce it. Will try it in the middle of the day!

I'm having similar problems with my DS. He's 14 months and looks at me like I'm a lunatic when I put milk in his cup! I've tried at different times of day and different cups but no luck as yet. I wondered if I'm not persisting with it enough as I usually end up sticking it in his bottle so he'll actually drink it. If you find a way, please let me know :)
