Basically do they work, and where do I get one?

I have to do something as he's picking the crap out of my moles, and is too young to understand no!

I have a lovely one from, Bella Mama which is a Mama Jewels one. It's longer and chunkier than it looks on the website which isn't really me but I like it all the same. The beads are plastic which is why I didn't buy one for ages, although I'm really glad I did now. Each bead is individually knotted so that if it breaks only one will come off, and they're tested under the tests for baby toys so are very safe. My son (6 months) loves it so much that it sometimes actually distracts him from nursing so I have to shove it out of the way! He teeths hard on it and it's fine.

I also have a Little Gems one from the US (cost about £14 in import duty so beware although Bella Mama are talking about getting them in). It's perhaps not as pretty as the Mama Jewels one but it's made from gemstones which are fairly traded, and I much prefer that for my LO to teeth on. It's super strong, really very well made and adjustable so it can go just the right height, which is nice.

The key things are:

Make sure that if it's on a string that the string is nice and thick. The Little Gems one has a string round the neck which if it were thinner (it's nice and thick) would dig in when he pulled it. Mama Jewels ones have comfy beads all the way round.

Make sure that it's totally safe if it breaks (or just one bead can come off).

I've just ordered one from the Mama Jewels website (they have clearance on there too) will let you know how i get on when it gets here.

I saw some nice ones on etsy too.

It arrived, DS loves it. I have the black tree of life one from mama jewels, wanted something that I could wear with anything, and with other necklaces if I wanted to. Now he has taken to grabbing the necklace and flapping that about, instead of punching me in the chest, pulling at my clothes, or pulling off my cleverly placed muslin to flash flesh at everyone in the coffee shop. He just fell asleep with it still in his hand looking very cute. He does yank it very hard, so I am quite glad it's chunky. I may have to get another one at some point.
