With dd1 i could express 8oz in one go but I'm failing to get more than 1ml

How can I boost my supply and express?

I have a meddle electric pump

Not a professional but have been expressing a while (12 weeks). You don't say how old your baby is, or what you've tried so far, or whether DD2 is feeding from you directly but this is what works for me....:

  1. Express frequently, round the clock. No more than a 3-4 hour break between expressions until your supply is established. Often the hours between midnight and 6am are the most productive.
  1. Pump for at least a couple of minutes after you think each boob has finished. Bear in mind that breasts never really empty (but you will reach your cut off point when pumping where you think "that's enough!")
  1. Do each boob in turn till no more comes out. Then switch back to the first one for a bit, then the second again until you're sure you're done.
  1. Keep at it a couple of days to allow your body time to respond.
  1. Latch the baby as much as possible and express the other side. The baby is like a superpump and will get more than any electric pump, apparently. Your body will respond to her demands.

I express about a litre a day - from 200ml in the small hours to about 100ml by the end of the day so this works for me (except for a variety of reasons I don't follow tip 5. This is what others have told me).
