How do I stop breastfeeding?

My DS is 7 months and has been breastfed thus far. Having recently moved to a new area I want to return to work. I want to stop breast feeding in the day so I can leave him in nursery. My milk supply has naturally dwindled so expressing is out of the question.

I'm trying the avent magic cup (completely refuses bottles) at the 11am feed. He starts to drink(without the valve in) but once he realises its formula he screams and spits it out. (He won't take expressed milk either).

He's eating plenty of soids (four meals a day), but I am concerned that he will not have enough milk if I pack him off to nursery with just water - which he doesn't drink much of either.

Help!!!!!!!!!!!

My boy was the same when he went to the childminder at 6.5 months old. He never did drink milk from a bottle. I made a point of making him food with milk in to send to the childminder - can you do that at the nursery?

Also he had a really good feed in the morning before going out and then fed a lot in the evening - he just seemed to adjust. I also only worked 3 days per week and fed him normally for the other 4.

On expressing - you could build up your supply again if you worked at it over a few days - don't expect miracles straight away. But a word of warning - my lad wouldn't touch expressed milk either from a bottle (or cup or anything), although he happily drank water from a cup (not a lot though). All my expressed milk was used up making rice pudidngs and such like.

Good luck.

Why noy breast feed him in the morning and give him water/juice during the day? You can B/F when you are home.
