Mastitis - questions...

DS is 2 weeks old and got mastitis. Got antibiotics yesterday and am starting to feel much better but my breast is still bright red. Does anyone know how long the red patches take to fade? Am terrified it will turn into an absess but breast is not lumpy, hard or engorged. Am feeding regularly and block feeding as got quite a lot of milk (did have v bad engorgement which was clearing just as mastitis struck.

Also how long before i will fel much better? And is thrush more likely now?

Just looking for reassurance really but the breast absess is my biggest fear!

red patch can take a while to go but it's nothing to worry about if other symptoms are decreasing. For me it peeled like sunburn! You are at higher risk of thrush but i've had 4 lots of ABs for mastitisand not got thrush. Some people reckon taking a probiotic reduces the risk.
What length and strength course of ABs have you got? If it's flucloxacillin you should have 500mg 4 times a day for 10-14 days (my GP got this wrong and the mastitis came back). Hope you feel better soon
