I didn't do so well breastfeeding DD1 for various reasons and am determined to do better with DS1. He seems to be feeding ok (4 weeks now), but I still haven't ventured out with him much as I don't know how I can feed discretely in public. I always had quite large breasts before and now they are enormous - bigger than his head :) The only position I can comfortably feed him in is on a pile of cushions and he is under my arm facing head up. Anything else and I either feel like I am suffocating him (especially cradle hold) and he doesn't get enough of my breast in his mouth, which ends up making my nipples a bit sore. Also on that point if you have large nipples and large areolae how much realistically can a newborn baby get in their mouth ?.......any advice appreciated.

I am quite enormous (36K Shock) and saggy too :( I find feeding one baby cross cradle is most discreet hold. I use a vest underneath to cover belly, hitch t shirt up just far enough to reveal nipple, and trust that baby's head and body will hide the rest from anyone sitting at same height as me (they'd get an eyeful if they peered over my shoulder though!) I'm planning to experiment with taking standard (cheap) vests and cutting holes in them myself for discreet tandem feeding, so that might be worth trying too?

Instead of supporting my breast, I hold baby lower down, making sure I'm not pulling them too far across my body (nose to nipple). Then, once attached, I shove a cushion under my arm (not the baby) to support it. If you're worried about the latch, I'd really recommend getting to a group so someone can help you face to face. They'll probably also be able to suggest how to do it discreetly :)

Really useful thread - I had size M boobs when I had my twins (ummm, slightly prem babies, enormous boobs - no Mrs Midwife I haven't mastered tandem feeding by two weeks old...) and really want to do better this time round.

Shall google 1/4 bras in size massive now!

MilkChic, you may be on to a winner. That link has a peek-a-boo bra that would be so perfect if it could be modified to contain our massive norks and adapted to allow breast feeding

Schmee, M cups??? You have my respect (and my sympathy!)

I'm loving the idea of a peekaboo style bra!
imagine whipping this out in a busy shopping cente!
