...without un latching. She just pulls back dragging her gums over my nipples. It's very painful how do I get her to stop.

How old is she?

DS does this, he's 4m

IME they do it as they become more aware of their surroundings and are more distractible. Plus they stop that 'falling asleep on the bob' thing. And are discovering their mouths can do stuff other than suck - like gnaw, bite and gum [painful nipple emoticon]

falling asleep on the boob not bob!

DS does this at 8 months :-(

He also stays latched on when he sees something interesting he wants to look at and pulls my nipple with him! He thinks i'm stretch armstrong!

Sorry forgot to say dd is 19 weeks. I know when they bite your supposed to un latch them and then put them back on to teach them but not sure what to do about this problem.

I do wonder if maybe it could be down to teething as she will chew (ouch) on the nipples somtimes.

Has anyone come out the other side? Is it just a phase? Please say yes.
