4 month old DD biting nipple

How can I stop DD from clamping down on my nipple during feeds? She doesn't have teeth yet, but gums are painful enough!

I just screamed in pain at the last feed, causing DD to get upset and won't stop crying :(

I love bf her but this can't continue!

Hi Holly,
I just take ds off when he bites.

Generaly it's because I want him to feed (in the hope that he'll then go to sleep Wink ) and he isn't really ready (damn!)

If I wait till he's properly hungey we have less monkey business.

Teething doesn't help mind. Must be so soothing for those gums...a nice tender nipple to chomp... Hmm

Hope it gets better for you soon!

IF she clamps down, quickly bring her face/nose into your breast so she can;t breathe through her nose so has to let go of your nipple to breathe through her mouth.

That sounds a bit cruel after writingit down!! But it works.

Also Anbesol can help if it is teething related, ( and it probably is!)

Ooh my DD does this, then twangs it afterwards, with a little animal noise, funny if it didnt hurt so much, she is teething too though...

Not sure how to stop it, but third the above, its usually when she us peckish, not ravenous!

Thanks will try Tryharder's approach :) is definitely when she's had enough of a feed and is faffing!
