A recent run-in with my HV has left me wondering how much of their advice really is good...
This is the scenario: DS (6 mo) is waking every 2 hrs for a feed at night. HV told me to start weakening his formula down (i.e. adding less scoops per feed) until he is drinking just water. Her theory is that he will then start to take in more calories during the day and stop waking at night for milk.
Doesn't make much sense to me- firstly, I'm sure you are not supposed to tamper with the water to powder ratio of formula....secondly- will he not continue waking for a suckle, even if its just water?
The whole thing has got me wondering how on earth HV's are trained, as they all give such differing 'advice'
Ok, rant over :)
