Expressing for a 6 week old

This could be a very daft question, but how am I supposed to know how much milk my EBF 6 week old DS takes at each feed?

I need to express so that DH can do a feed when I'm out tomorrow evening and I have no idea how much he will need. I will only be out for about 4 hours and won't be drinking, so can do a feed as soon as I get home if necessary.

I manage to express about 2oz in 20 minutes, but I'm sure that babies are more efficient than pumps. I know each baby is different, but any ideas on guidelines?

Thanks in advance.

This article in kellymom might help you do the maths.

Have a good night out. Smile

Very useful link from crikeybadger.

Every baby is different, but I would say that at 6 weeks my DD took roughly 4oz of expressed breast milk per feed.

I usually get ready to go out, do a final feed then go...

Have a nice night Smile
