When to swap sides?

Hi, I'm hoping someone will be able to help me with this.

I have a six day old daughter and we're mostly getting on ok with breastfeeding although she often comes off very soon (ie a few sucks) after latching on despite appearing to be on correctly. When she does that, I put her back on to the same boob we were trying with.

At other times she comes off after 5-10 mins or so, and I think this is because she becomes sleepy - but is making very obvious indications of still being hungry. Is this when I should be switching to offer the other side? Or should we stay on the same side - in which case, when do I know it is time to offer the other?

Hope that makes sense - I'm a little sleep deprived at the moment!

If she comes off after 5-10 minutes I'd offer the other side.

Yes, I would burp her after the 5-10 minutes when she's had a good feed and then offer the other side. That way your norks supply will even out sooner.
