How much milk should I express?

dd is four wks and I want to express enough milk to last Christmas day and Boxing day so I can have a drink.

How do I know how much this is though?

Would appreciate any advice

Unless you are planning on getting absolutely bladdered, then you are probably fine to feed anyway.

No I'm not getting bladdered - I have a newborn and a toddler so no option of that.

DD isn't in a routine for feeding though so I wouldn't know when it was safe to drink and when not to

So long as you're not getting so drunk you're going to drop her or roll on her it'll be safe to drink! A couple of drinks will be fine.

Hi

At a guess about 100ml per feed? If feeding every 2 hours or so during day? Kellymom would probably be more help in this situation. My plan for xmas day is to BF until 2pm ish (lunch) and then have wine with my meal and in the afternoon - so I will express about 400 to cover that period and then feed again the evening. But Moonunit is right - if you're sober enough to drive, you're sober to breastfeed. I wouldn't want to miss 2 days worth of feeds personally as that is a lot of pumping and dumping which I loathe.

If you're only having a few drinks here and there then BF is fine.

If you choose to express then 1oz/hr plus 0.5-1oz extra works quite well for us

That is a good plan Zimm, I think I will aim for something similar.

I hate to think of dd getting alcohol into her system through me so am wary of drinking anything. Need to relax a little I think
