Is this normal? 6 week growth spurt :)

Just want to hear from others.

Ds was 9 lb when born and has put on weight really well etc. I have been feeding both sides at each feed (mostly to help with engorgement).

I was gearing myself up to the 6 week growth spurt (feeding loads). Instead he is very sleepy (but with very alert periods). Instead of feeding both sides then sleeping/ being awake, he feeds from one side, sleeps, falls asleep on breast again. He almost seems to be feeding less, but sleeping more???

I do associate (sp?) sleeping with growing, but feeding less (could he just be more efficient?). Like I say, when he is alert, he is very alert, so I'm not worried about him getting too little...

Or maybe the growth spurt starts next week...?

Thanks Smile

Hi, my 5 wk old DD is the same - usually a great guzzler but feeding less and sleeping more the last couple of days. Like yours she's still alert when awake so I'm not too worried - it's just normal for the growth spurt. As long as you're getting wet and dirty nappies and he's putting on weight I'm sure it's fine. The good news is that after this growth spurt the next one's not till about 3 months! :) Good luck and hang in there!
