How can I donate frozen EBM in Devon?

Hi,

I have a stash (about 30 bags of 4oz portions) of EBM in my freezer that DS is not going to need. I was thinking about donating this but live in Devon. I've been on the UKABM website and their nearest centre is Southampton. Is there any other way I can do this?

Firstly i would check with any milk banks vaguely near you as they may be willling to collect (mine come from chester to leeds which is miles and miles).

If not or they don't want it for some reason (it's age, your babies age, lifestyle things etc) try Milkshare.org or a fb thing called "eats on feets"

I donated to the Southampton Milk Bank and I think you should get in contact with them as they'd be able to advise how to get the milk to them.

They're the only milk bank in the south but they supply all the hospitals in the south too so there must be a way to get your milk into the system.

Feel smug when you do it, I felt a bit strange donating breast milk, but a friend of mine has a 9 week prem baby in SCBU and is on donated BM. It made me want to continue to donate any left over milk.

Just a word of warning, it does take sometime for them to come back too you sometimes, but they do.

Hi FannyLogan thanks so much for the info. I've just googled it and phoned the RD&E and Karen is going to call me back.

I would love to donate as I really feel it is amazing stuff and if it can help other babies have the best possible start to life, like I was able to do for my DS, then that is brilliant.
