Hi,

Any advice would be great! I am co sleeping and breastfeeding and I am guessing at night my Lo is using me as a dummy when I have dosed off. I am not massively worried about this at night but won't she come to expect the same during the day? She does fall does fall asleep during the day without the breast at the moment sometimes but falls asleep a lot when feeding anyway. Just so scared of creating bad habits.

She is 5 weeks old on Tuesday.

Thank you
Sarah

i sometimes do this, and i tend to put my breast away once he has fed so he cant just suckle all night. it would probably be worth trying to avoid her getting too dependent on the breast to sleep but she is still very young. anything you can do in the right direction will help long term i am sure, so trying to let her settle herself sometimes or taking your breast out once she is very drowsy but not fully asleep, and then she does the last bit on her own. ime, it is aroujnd 6 weeks that they suddenly take lots of interest in the world and dont just sleep so easily in the day, so you may find you have a bit of work to do to get her to nap - creating a good routine will help asshe will be used to how it all works. i try to stick with eat, play, sleep, then repeat, so the link with eat and sleep is broken. some poeple do eat, sleep, play though and i'm sure it doesnt do any long term harm - whatever works for you!!
