One boob not producing as much now?!

This must sound odd but my left breast doesn't seem to be producing as much milk as it did. I am admittedly fairly chaotic about which boob I express from/offer first but is there anything I can do to stimulate production on that side? It doesn't hurt, there are no lumps or bumps, it just doesn't seem to fill up as much as the other one or as much as it used to. DS is 5 weeks old. Any thoughts would be much appreciated!

It's easy to solve. Simply use your left side more. Using it will stimulate the extra production.
I used to feed more on my right side because I'm left handed and I often fed while eating myself.
I therefore found that my right breast was larger than my left and produced more.
By using my left breast more than my right for a few days I quickly managed to even them up.
I then concentrated a bit harder on using them evenly to keep them that way.

Fab, I was hoping that would be the solution, poor old DS will have to redouble his efforts for a bit to help with production. Thanks Ruthchan

Hi, i've git exactly the same issue - dd2 is 4 weeks. I always offer left first, but she stops actively sucking after a few mins, so I the offer right - which is usually begging to be drunk from by then! If she's still hungry I put her back on left for a bit, but it doesn't seem to be helping! I'm thinking I may have to start pumping, but it's so time consuming!

Yep, same here, I always offer right first and she stays on for 20 minutes or so, then offer left, which seems to be a quick fill up before she nods off, then back to right for the next feed as have been advised to alternate, but I know she never takes as much from the left side as she's full by then.
I don't notice much difference in the day but my milk production goes into overdrive in the night and I often wake up with a very engorged right side in the night!

to be honest it doesn't worry me, I think its easy to fix, just feed on the softer side more often, but for me, that side can get a bit sore so I'm happy to be lopsided for now! My baby is 5 weeks old x

I think things are getting a bit better already, I've been trying to pay a bit more attention to which side is which. And suddenly was able to express more today from either/both...how odd!

tanmu pumping is dire, you're right!
