Hormones after breastfeeding

sachah · 23/11/2010 03:28

I stopped breastfeeding a month ago. Does anyone know how long it takes for hormones to get back to normal? I have this unbelievable feeling that i'm going to die. I'm not dreaming about it, its just something i think about most days. I think its my hormones making me think silly thoughts. Has anyone else had weird thoughts after stopping breastfeeding? Confused

I stopped (or rather, ds3 decided to stop) 9 days ago at the age of 10 months. I'm all ove the place! Don't remember it being so bad previous times, but I'm a raging nightmare. Like yoiu, I feel very nervy, think my boys would be better off without me. Sorry - this is probably not helping. How long have you been feeding for?

sachah - this is not normal. Please speak to someone about it.

Ditto helenabeth - being a 'raging nightmare' with thoughts like the ones you describe means you need help.

At least speak to the HV to see if this is something that needs further investigation.

People stop bf all the time. They do not usually have these v. strong reactions.

i agree with tiktok, it is not normal to feel like this. Speak to your HV/GP. The quicker you have help dealing with this the better.

Don't do what I did and wait 3 years and its been a long recovery to feel relatively "normal".

Thanks. The strange thing is that i couldn't be happier but just having weird thoughts. Anyway off to DR on Monday so will discuss then.
I def don't think my boys are better off without me helenabeth. Please see someone like i am!
