Glass of wine?

Hi,

If I have a glass of wine now when is it ok to breatfeedy baby again? And if I give her a bottle the next feed then will the alcohol disappear out my milk by the following feed or will I need to express and throw it?

Thanks

I am just reading my breastfeeding book and read the section on what to do if you have a glass of wine... and it categorically states that you can breastfeed!

I am currently breastfeeding and drinking wine Grin

Am presuming you are just drinking a standard glass of wine and not downing the bottle? General rule of thumb is if you feel drunk do not breastfeed. One or two units is fine Smile

the best time to drink is when you are feeding as it as far as possible from the next feed ;> i often had a glass whilst feeding and it was just fine. enjoy your glass!

It's fine - a tiny, tiny amount of alcohol gets into your milk so it's not a problem. It's more of an issue if you're drinking every day, or if you get so drunk that you risk rolling onto your baby/dropping them. A couple of glasses of wine on a Friday night is fine.

Enjoy your wine.

No need to pump and dump.

Feed as and when needed :)

It clears from your milk at the same pace as it clears from your blood, and even then less than 2% goes into the milk anyway.

Hell, have a second glass Grin Wink

It's fine, enjoy your wine.
