Horrendous Poop (probably TMI)

Hi,

DS has stoppedooing every day and is only pooing every 3-4 days, this doesn't concern me as he's breastfeed and doesn't seem in any discomfort.

However, he does the most horrendous smelling farts and his poo makes me gag. Is this his digestive system developing?

Is this normal?

How old?

My nearly 6mo is ebf and doesn't poo every day. BF poo doesn't usually smell bad IMO (if fact I quite like the smell Grin [tmi right back at ya!]

Could be teething? That always causes a few days of rank nappies I find. Not sure about the wind though.

He's 18 weeks. He was having quite mucousy nappies before which I put down to all his dribble, but the dribbling has curbed slightly now so I don't think it's teething.

No, probably not teeth at 18 weeks. Hope not for your sake! Smile

Is he otherwise doing well? Feeding regularly, putting on weight? Fairly settled?

Yeh, he's perfect happy, got a bit of a sore throat for the past couple of days. He's eating every 3-4 hours and keeps hitting the 75th centile at his weigh ins.

Although the past couple of weeks I've felt like I've got no milk, but I've put that down to get my period.

I've wanted to know similar - DD is now 23weeks and although her farts are unbelievably smelly her poo is normal. I don't remember either of my other 2 having this Grin. Interestingly she is also the only one of mine who doesn't poo every day, sometimes going up to 8 or 9 days! Maybe there it is something to do with how long the poo is in there??

HelenLG · 19/11/2010 14:34

Dh jokes that it's poo DS has been storing for the past 4 months...

mine is 20weeks old, and her farts reek, particularly as we approach poo day. She goes every 3 days roughly and they get smellier and smellier. She did once do a shart (shitty fart) which surprised us both!

Her poo definitely smells now - enough to make me gag slightly. I think it is because it is much more concentrated now she is going less often.

She is perfectly fine though - maybe we just have sensitive noses or something!

shart Grin

I call them lumpy farts.
