It is impossible to overfeed a FF baby

.....discuss.

In my experience it is. Unless you use enriched formula intended for prem babies. If you use normal formula, I would defy anyone to overfeed a FF baby.

Funny - again I suggest you read the studies and listen to what people are saying here.

You sayd
"but a FF baby won't keep sucking for comfort and get more milk than they intended to do. "

Yes, they do- this is one of the known concerns. Sucking is enjoyable and comforting for them, and they may continue to do it beyond satiety - it is not as easy for the bottle fed baby to control the flow of milk from the bottle as it is for the breastfed baby.

"They will push the bottle away and they happily suck on a dummy until they sleep, or no longer need to suck."

Some will not push the bottle away at the 'right' time, and not all have a dummy, anyway.

Young babies, especially, are often observed to take way, way beyond their physiological needs. The usual volume of colostrum/breastmilk in the early days has been shown to be something between 5 mls and 10 mls at a time. Bottle fed babies are routinely given 30 mls.

So,can a BF baby get obese? I ask because DD is a proper gorgeous little chubster. 15 wks, feeding non stop and just jumped from 65th to 90th centre in a month. 15 odd pounds. Can I be over feeding her? She is thoroughly lovely.
