Shark attack while breastfeeding

StealthPomBear · 17/11/2010 22:27

I was feeding DD earlier, yawned, and had a toy shark stuffed in my mouth while my eyes were shut.
Later on she dropped the shark, sat up, looked down my cleavage most indignantly, found the shark (not there, on the bed!) and lay back down happily for her feed.

DD has just started grabbing handfuls of my breast and/or pinching, but only the left one which is covered in little scratches.

She also holds onto my top and pulling it up, thus ruining my careful 'vest down, top up' arrangement for feeding in public, my poor father in law saw more of me then he wanted the other day Blush

Her cutest habit though is grinning at me with nipple in mouth, which she always manages to do just as I'm losing patience with the pinching........

RJandA · 19/11/2010 09:48

Yes, what is it with the pinching? I had a little semi circle of bruises on my chest and arm for a while, but she seems to have stopped now. Now she just grabs a handful of breast and pulls my nipple out of her mouth, inspects it, then stuffs it back in like so much ripe banana. Being attacked by a shark would be a picnic.

spiderlight · 19/11/2010 09:59

Ah yes, the pinching! Also I have a raised mole just below my boobs and DS goes through phases of twiddling it. We had a strange phase of rythmic waving of his arm above his head while feeding, and he has also got the let's-expose-mummy-to-the-world manouevre down to a fine art. I tried a nursing necklace but he practically beheaded me with it. it's worth it all, though :o

A few months ago I was BF whilst eating a banana. DD unlatched herself and grabbed the banana and shoved it in her mouth. Very sweet...

cupcake75 · 19/11/2010 15:38

I have the nipple twiddling and feeding and walking off, etc. No feeding other toys though, guess she's too greedy.

But my worst or most potentially awkward moment so far has been trying to remove my mooncup in the morning and 17 month old DD walking over, lifting up my shirt and latching on. I thought this would probably be some one off embarrassing moment but no, it's happened two months in a row. So now I'm just hoping she'll still be in bed on those days when I'm in need of a mooncup.

HelenLG · 19/11/2010 15:45

DS is a cowboy feeder, he lays there and swings his arm around like he's trying to lasso something, then he rolls backwards without letting go of my nipple and grins....

I don't find it as amusing as he does...

JenniferCanesten · 20/11/2010 19:09

DS is teething, (but luckily has no teeth yet) and clamps down v. hard on nipple, which is painful enough, then punches it out of his mouth. He is surprisingly strong. It bloody hurts!

Also now that he can roll over, when I'm feeding him, he gets an irresistible urge (I prersume) to do it, and rolls towards me. Then is very cross to find himself on his stomach on my lap. Idiot.

ClimberChick · 20/11/2010 19:43

we're in the 'wow, isn't the nipple fasnicating stage' 8.5months

although today I have a bleeding lip/face as she likes in investigate my mouth and I hadn't cut her nails recently. Also had teh fingers up my nose.

JetLi · 20/11/2010 22:38

I always liked the wide open mouth, lunging in for a perfect latch, only for her to blow a HUGE open-mouthed raspberry on my nipple instead & then fall about laughing. Happy days Grin

blackeyedsusan · 23/11/2010 12:46

just had my armpits tickled and scratched by ds's toenails. he had somehow managed to get both his feet inside my teeshirt. needless to stay he didn't get to stay on long!

OhNoNotTheHoneyBabies · 23/11/2010 13:33

At the moment DS (19mo) has a habit of trying to stick his toe up my nose if we're feeding with me sitting up. He's also into the 'flamingo'!! Grin

I also get poked in the bellybutton, which is a horrible feeling!

Sometimes I tickle his toes while he's latched on to try and make him laugh...Smile

StealthPolarBear · 23/11/2010 13:34

ahh :o
DD also loves kicking whoever is beside me when I'm feeding her - do you think there's something about feeding that just makes their arms and legs go??

mousymouse · 23/11/2010 13:41

at the mo dd is grabbing the skin of my neck very hard when feeding. ooh it hurts.
Oh the "flamingo" has a name? how cute.

kipperroo · 25/11/2010 19:25

My DD managed to poke me in the eye with a dribbly finger whilst feeding. Ended up at A&E at 3am. Infection and scratched retina! Ouch....still, I can sat with honestly that many things are better than a poke in the eye.

HelenLG · 25/11/2010 19:38

DS likes to rub his toes on the leather sofa and make farting sounds...one day it's not going to the sofa...

fireblademum · 25/11/2010 21:53

didnt think i had any bingo wings till dd started pinching them. i get stroking and twiddling, ,also hysterical giggling. she also dosent get the discreet public feed, generally snorts and sighs, slurps and pulls my top up so everyone can see my boobs. wouldnt change it for the world.

DancingThroughLife · 25/11/2010 21:53

Helen, DD's just starting the rolling back lasso thing!

Mousey, DD does that with the boob she's feeding off Hmm yowsers

And today for the first time, she came off and just stared at my nipple with the most concentration I think I've ever seen on her face. Then tried to get back on, missed and proceeded to love bite my arm. Lovely Grin

dinkystinky · 25/11/2010 21:56

DS2 is 20 months - I often find I'm bfing him and igglepiggle in bed in the mornings. The other day I was attacked by a (thankfully soft) triceratops while bfing him which was abit of a shock...

RhinestoneCowgirl · 25/11/2010 22:01

DD tucked a couple of plastic dinosaurs into my cleavage yesterday so that they could have some 'nulk'. She is quite sweet when she asks usually and has even started saying please (not so cute when it's 5am...)

TottWriter · 25/11/2010 22:42

Thank you all this has really cheered me up! (reflux, so a little frazzled) DD is 4mo atm, so just getting the milky dribbly smiles while she's feeding - my biggest issues lie with DS (2.5) who often says to me "XX eating bosom" and sometimes lifts his top up and offers to feed DD himself.

Think I'll stick to calling it "bosom" for his sake, as he was FF so would get a bit confused otherwise. (We didn't want him to be "that" child who knows all the body parts as he has a habit of repeating things already...)

wrigglerstea · 25/11/2010 23:14

Wriggler is still very much living up to the moniker. Could also be called pincher, giggler etc. The one I don't understand is that if she misses when coming towards me, as I don't actually latch her on any more, just get the boob out and let her do it, she just latches to whatever ends up in her mouth. I have several love bites at the moment from where she has missed the nip and just sucked another bit while I tried to get her off!
