right boob feels odd

DD is now almost 8m and I started to mix feed at 6.5m (for various reasons) and dropped the day feeds very slowly, first the late morning, then introduced a top-up at bedtime (with a view to dropping this eventually), then the late afternoon feed.

In the last week or so, my right boob feels really, really full at 7.30 (bedtime) which obviously I expected when I first dropped the late afternoon feed, but surely my supply should have adjusted by now, shouldn't it?

When DD went thru a phase of sleeping for 8 hours my body adjusted very quickly, and equally adjusted back again no problems when she started to wake more at night.

Why oh why is this boob getting so engorged? It's not painful, and there's no distinguishable (sp?) lump so it can't be a blocked duct or anything, can it? I am too scared to dro any more BFs in case it gets worse!!

My other boob is absolutely fine and so this has resulted in quite a bit of lop-sidedness Confused

Please help???!!!

I think that supply can waffle a bit.
Are you making an effort to feed equally from both sides?

Sorry curlyLJ, I'm a bit confused, do you feed DD at 7.30 pm or are you giving a ff?

curlyLJ · 14/11/2010 12:58

I feed DD at 7.30, but then give a 3oz FF top-up to keep her asleep for longer Wink

Do you feed from both sides at 7:30pm? Do you feed from the fuller side first (right)?

curlyLJ · 14/11/2010 16:49

Yes and yes!

When I fed DD from the same side first, at around the same time I had a similar boob. It seemed to start producing twice as much as the other side.

The only thing I can suggest is perhaps alternating which side you feed her from, if you can bear it. Otherwise it should settle down soon.
