Could nurofen affect supply?

I've been having loads of problems feeding DD (she is 3 weeks, and my 4th dc). Massively cracked nipples, thrush, vasospasm, painful back/arms from referred pain. I've had the latch checked, have cream and drops for thrush, and hopefully have started healing now.

In the meantime, I've been taking nurofen for the pain. But I'm trying to increase my supply (dd's weight gain not brilliant) and I'm wondering if the nurofen could interfere with that? Since it reduces swelling?

Not in my experience. I used ibuprofen to help with nipple pain and mastitis and didn't notice any affect on supply.

Big hugs dublinmom - hang in there with the breastfeeding. Hope it all gets better for you soon. You have my full sympathies - I had all that too - but I'm still BF my baby at 9 mnths so there's hope. Fingers crossed for you. x

I don't think Nurofen would affect supply - I spent the first 10 days of DS's life taking the maximum allowed dose because my nipples hurt so much, and we've had no supply problems.

Thanks everyone, the difference and relief the nurofen brings is amazing, I was hoping i could keep taking it!
