Breast Lump, somebody talk me down please...

Summary so far:
2 weeks ago had mastitis(left breast), felt unwell with high temp for one day. Felt fine next day.
5 days later I discovered hard lump the size of a walnut in my left breast, high up, not near nipple.NCT helpline advised massage, warm water, lots of feeding. Done but no change to lump.
2 days later went to GP, he thought it was from the mastitis and prescribed antibiotics to take if it gets worse over weekend. Was fine for 2 days then redness increased and I started to take them.
Next day went back to see different GP(6 week check up) and she said to continue antibiotics and if not better by today she will refer me to the breast clinic to get checked out.
Today it is still the same so she is making the referral(urgent, will be seen within 2 weeks I think).
So I'm sitting here breastfeeding my beautiful DD and am bloody scared. I think I will be grateful if it is just an abscess and not something more serious.
I need some positive thoughts and moral support please, feeling miserable at the moment. :(

Please try not to worry. I know this is far easy said than done but it's very likely that it is nothing serious, hopefully a cyst or something that will just go away on it's own. It is good that the Dr is taking it seriously though and the breast clinic will hopefully put your mind at rest. I would continue with the NCT advice as well if you can in case it is a stubborn blocked duct or something. Take care

Thank you, I think I'm a bit hormonal and generally a worrier, not a good combination. The clinic called me earlier and I have an appointment on tuesday.
