Moving from formula to cow's milk

Wasn't really sure whether this should be posted here or in weaning, but here goes...

DS is 14 months and I thought by this age he could be drinking cow's milk rather than formula. At the moment he has a small bottle of formula in the afternoon and I'm still bf morning and night, but might stop soon.

When I offer him cow's milk, he only drinks a little bit. I was just interested in what age other people's DC switched and whether they took to cow's milk naturally or needed encouragement.

With ds1 I gradually introduced cows milk in cooking from 6 months. From 9 months he was down to a beaker of formula at breakfast and a bottle of formula at bed. From 12 months I started putting cows milk in the beaker and dropped the bottle from 14 months, he never really seemed to notice the difference.

Perhaps when he has a bottle he prefers the taste of formula as he is having a big drink. When you drop the bottle you might find he is happy to drink the cows milk from a beaker as it is a smaller quantity.

DD had to stay on formula until 18 months due to cows milk protein intolerance. Formula is much sweeter than cows milk so I think it can take a while to get used to the change. With DD I started off by mixing 80% formula with 20% cows milk, and then every few days increasing the proportion of cows milk. That way the change was gradual and she didn't really notice.
