Hello...

Since the last 2 days,DS (12 weeks) has simply not been feeding enough. He is EBF,after a whole load of problems and dark days where i felt utterly desperate and ready to give up ,things had only recently started getting better...But since the last 2 day he seems to be feeding very little maybe around 7-8 mins or so and very infrequently(his usual routine is every 3 hours)and hardly taking any milk during his night feeds.Even during the day he seems to fall asleep very early during a feed. When i try to offer him the breast again he is crying and getting stiff. This is causing great worry not to mention really heavy boobs as well .I dont want to give up or start formula after coming this far but i m worried he might not be getting the nutrition he needs.
Plz advice...

Zari - sorry to hear this.
There could be a zillion reasons for it.

It would help to call one of the breastfeeding lines and speak to someone in person.

If you think your baby is poorly, you need to seek medical advice.

thanx tiktok..

As far as i can see he is not poorly at all, very active and alert and all smiles...
his does have a slight nose block ..tho i have used a saline spray ,would this be a factor?

Could he be having some difficulty is breathing and feeding, with his blocked nose, do you think?

Maybe you should get his health checked out by your GP. It may be nothing to do with breastfeeding. He may just have a bug.

By the way, my babies suddenly started feeding a lot quicker at around 12 weeks eg 10 minutes rather than 45 minutes per feed, which worried me to start with until I realised it was great! Maybe your little one is getting quicker with his feeding too.

Get him checked out if you think he's too sleepy.

Yes i think the blocked nose might be a problem,as saline sprays seem to be making him feel a bit better, but what i saw today was that he doesnt seem to be liking my positioning rather the way the way i position him for a feed.thought the funny thing that is exactly the same one i have been using since he was born ,any other way is bit too difficult for me.
Junior mum:so was ur baby doing the whole feed in 10 mins?i think this also might be the case here and i m feeling worried coz he used to take much more time ...
this is all so confusing ..do u think it is worth showing him to the GP? he is only sleepy like this during feeds not usually otherwise!!!!

Maybe he has an ear infection, and lying on one side is painful for him?
