My dd is 6 weeks old, and seems to be settling into a bit of a pattern. She has her longest sleep between about 7pm and 10pm, then will wake up for a feed then, sleeps for two and a half hours, feeds, then sleeps for about two hours, feeds, then sleeps for maybe an hour, feeds - we're now at about 5am, and she'll then feed every hour until she finally gives in around 9.30/10am and will sleep for a couple of hours. She feeds well, latches on fine etc. Am just a bit anxious about how I'm going to get dd1 to pre-school next week as I seem to be constantly feeding in the morning. Does this sound 'normal' and does anyone have any tips on how to gently persuade my dd to sleep for longer stretches at a time? I know its very early days, but am unbelievably tired...

Can understand your tiredness perfectly, it can be really hard can't it but your DD sounds perfectly normal to me.

I'm not trained, maybe there will be someone along soon who is, but I think they do it because your milk is at its richest in the early hours.

My DD did this too and I put her in the sling to get DS to pre-school and then slept if I could while he was there.

Six weeks is still very early days and she will probably change the routine herself soon anyway.

Mine cluster fed in the mornings just like this. Still feeds more regularly in the mornings now, but not like that anymore. Thing it had petered out largely by 3months. Amazing how it all becomes foggy

Thanks for your support and ideas - hope that it will settle down fairly soon. We had a better night last night actually, and were very busy today so she slept less in the day generally, wonder if she'll sleep more tonight??!

mine definitely does, he's 8 weeks and does 11ish til 3am, then 5, 6 7 and 8am feeds!

Mine did, then about 6 weeks she turned it into two mega clusters, about 8-10pm and then 6-9am ish, and slept through in between which was LOVELY, perhaps yours will do same?
She's 6m now and likes to feed about 7pm, then sleeps through til 4 -5 am when she wakes every hour or so for a feed until 8 or so, then just snacks in the daytime.
